Despite having a language barrier, an Uzbekistan Patient came to India for the treatment of her uncontrolled diabetes mellitus and severe obesity on the recommendation of one of her doctors in her country.

The team at Venkateshwar Hospital, ensured to make all the arrangements for the patient and her attendants from airport picks, hotels to translators, creating a treatment schedule for her. 

The patient was picked from the airport on her arrival and appointed a translator who accompanied her throughout her treatment. The translator ensured that all her needs and worries were conveyed to the hospital.

On the initial consultation with her doctors, the patient’s blood sugar was over 290 – 300 milligrams percentage, which made the doctors act on the case as soon as possible as she was also suffering from severe obesity.

Initially, an endocrinologist was assigned for managing her case, but upon his recommendation for surgery, it was passed on to the Bariatric Surgeons. She received her treatment from Dr Asfar Ali and Dr Anupam, the senior bariatric surgeons at the hospital.

The doctors performed bariatric surgery and laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy on the patient, and within 10 days, she lost almost 9 kgs. Her sugar had also become normal after the surgery. She was given an extensive diet chart after the treatment which mainly consisted of a liquid diet. The operation helped in eliminating the need for the patient to consume any diabetic medicine for a while.  

The patient was very satisfied with her treatment and the services provided at the hospital. Obesity has been a hurdle in her life for a long time, but now she was looking forward to her new healthy life.
