3-year-old Kashmiri boy cured with Double Root Translocation Surgery at FMRI Hospital
FMRI (Fortis Memorial Research Institute), Gurugram recently treated a 3-year-old boy from Kashmir who was suffering from multiple cardiac birth defects with a Double Root Translocation Surgery on him.
Mohammed Aasim, the young patient, had a hole in his heart, and his pulmonary & aorta arteries were also coming out of the wrong chambers. This made the procedure very complicated, taking more than 8 hours in the surgery. Double Root Translocation procedure was used for correcting the child’s congenital disability, which went smoothly and the patient is recovering now.
The treatment was a joint initiative from RMMMRT (Radha Mohan Mehrotra Medical Relief Trust), Rotary Club of Delhi-East End and Fortis Foundation to help Aasim, an underprivileged kid receive medical facilitation.
Aasim’s case was managed by Dr Vijay Agarwal who is the Director & HOD of Pediatric Surgery at FMRI(Fortis Memorial Research Institute), Gurugram.
The patient suffered from this condition since his birth. And because of the blocked blood vessels, the concentrated oxygen in his blood was only 52% against the standard 100%, that resulted in turning his body blue all the time.
“The 8-hour long operation and post-operation recovery of the patient was smooth. He came out of the ventilator only 5 hours after being shifted from the ICU” said Dr Vijay Agarwal.
