Oman is amongst the Top 15 Countries to bring the Maximum flow of E-Visa Tourists to India
According to recent data shared by Indian Ministry of Tourism, the Oman sultanate is amongst the top 15 countries who are boosting the tourism market in India, these countries bring the maximum flow of e-visa tourists in the South Asian Country.
Figures shared by the ministry showed that 1.55 per cent of e-visa issued by India in the month of October accounted for tourists from Oman. Following this, the ministry included the Sultanate in its list of top 15 e-tourist visa markets among other countries like Germany, UK, and Canada. The Sultanate also topped the list of top 15 Indian e-visa tourist markets for the month of July, August, & September this year.
Oman tourists reportedly used e-visa for both medical as well as travel purposes. Interestingly, it was also found that this sudden increase, has boosted the profits attained by medical tourism sector by 10 to 20 per cent.
India issued a total number of 222,134 e-tourist visas in the month of October 2018, showcasing a 26.1 % increase from the last year statistics during this period.
Riaz Kuttery, Mezoon Travel’s Chief Operating Officer, talked to Times of Oman about this data commenting that she is not surprised by these numbers because of the proximity between the two countries. He also suggested the boom of medical tourism is also responsible for the increase in the number of Omanis tourists to India.
The updated figures indicate a market trend which has emerged Oman as a dominant market source of Indian tourism from the Asian region. Additionally, Omanis tourists accounted for the top 15 foreign tourist arrivals in India in the month of July 2018, that is roughly 1.95 per cent of the 806,255 tourists who traveled in the country during that period.
India issued approximately 1,109,740 e-visas in 2018 from January to June. Amongst which 18 per cent were UK citizens, which was closely followed by tourist visa approval from France & the USA.
