India has always had a pretty robust visa regime that provided smooth yet watchful movement of foreigners in the country.

In the past year, MHA (Ministry of Home Affairs) has taken some steps which have helped in liberalizing the visa rules.

Some of these changes include:

Electronic Visa Facility – Looking at the documents we can say that almost every country in the world, can now travel to India on E-visa. Citizens of 166 nationalists will be now welcomed at 26 airports and 5 seaports in India.

The number of tourists has gone significantly up in the last three years from 4.47 Lakh people 2015 to 17.00 lakhs last year in 2017. As of 31st October 2018, this number was at 18.78 Lakhs.

MHA has introduced two new categories of e-visa e-Medical Attendant visa & e-Conference. The duration of electronic visa has also been extended beyond 60 to 90 days, that can be availed three times in a year. They have also launched an e-FRRO facility that assists foreigners, medical patients, with 27 visa-related services like visa conversion, extension, exit permit.

Apart from increasing tourism, these visa changes are also going to bring a boost in the medical tourism market, bringing more business to the country.

International patients can also contact Medmonks for gaining visa assistance for their treatment.
