Experiences

• Performed obesity (bariatric) surgery as early as 1978 (starting with intestinal bypass and Mason)
• Recieved specific obesity surgery training
• Performed advanced laparoscopic surgery as early as June 1993
• Developed and standardized the surgical technique for the laparoscopic application of gastric banding “Pars flaccida technique”.
• Experienced in laparoscopic surgery and laparoscopic functional surgery of the stomach (Nissen fundoplication) and colorectal surgery
• Regularly performs live procedures in front of audiences worldwide. Bariatric surgeries in more than 20 countries.
• Teaches at the Frankfurt Johann Wolfgang von Goethe University
• Organized international workshops where over 450 surgeons worldwide were given “hands-on” training on bariatric & metabolic surgery
• Published more than 480 medical articles in journals around the world including Surgical Endoscopy, Obesity Surgery, Surgical Laparoscopy & Endoscopy, International Surgery, Hepato-Gastroenterology , Coloproctology, Der Chirurg ,Chirurgische Allgemeine and other.
• Performs all Bariatric Procedures by laparoscopic means (more than 7500 cases since 1993).
