Patient: Ms Lakshmi
Country: India
Problem: Endometriosis
Treatment: Laparoscopic Surgery
Doctor: Dr Manisha Singh│ Consultant of Obstetrics & Gynecology
Hospital: Fortis Hospital, Bannerghatta Road│ Bangalore
Mrs Lakshmi came to Fortis Hospital, Bangalore in search of Dr Manisha Singh. She was searching specifically for an endometriosis expert, to help with her pain during periods. The patient was also unable to conceive due to endometriosis, which was also a major concern for her.
Mrs Lakshmi’s “main problem was very-very severe menstruation pain, and unfortunately for her, she already had two major laparoscopic surgeries for her endometriosis, and she continued to be in pain. One of the other issues was fertility, but it was in the background because of the pain,” said Dr Manisha Singh.
“We plan to operate on her,” and during the surgery “we found a completely frozen pelvis, where none of the organs could be delineated with one another, which means that the uterus tubes ovaries bladder ball, all seemed to be a big mess. She had what we call stage 4 endometriosis, so we made a decision to convert two procedures, open surgery and a laparotomy” she added.
With the guidance of Dr Manisha Singh, Mrs Lakshmi was able to conceive one year after the procedure. However, the pregnancy was very complex. But now the patient is blessed with a baby boy.
