Condition: Birth Defect in the Liver (Liver Cirrhosis)

Treatment: Liver Transplant

Doctor: Dr Abhideep Chaudhary

Hospital: Jaypee Hospital, Noida

Dr Abhideep Chaudhary, the head of hepatobiliary surgery and liver transplant department at Jaypee Hospital in Noida, India recently performed a successful liver transplant surgery on a 3.5 months old baby.

Dadaev Muraod, patient’s father was diagnosed with severe liver damage that required liver transplantation when he was only 2.5 months old. So his parents started looking for the best liver transplant doctors and hospitals in the world.

Then the parents contacted Jaypee Hospital in Noida, India, and their baby received treatment from Dr Abhideep.

His mother wanted to be the donor, so she and the baby were taken to the operating room, and “the transplant was done. During the transplant the technical challenge was to reduce the size of the liver in the donor’s body and make it the optimum size so it can fit in the baby’s body”…so the surgery was performed dividing the liver accordingly, said Dr Abhideep.

He also added that managing the patient post-surgery was also a major challenge, as the kid was only 3.5 months old, which was done by the hospital’s efficient team of pediatric hepatologists. Now, the baby has recovered and doing fine.

Performing liver transplant surgery on young kids is not just about saving their life, but it also puts the pressure on the doctors to ensure that they grow normally and are able to live a normal life.
